- Care Guides
The care guides meet with people who turn to Central
for help, assessing both their physical and spiritual needs, and then guiding
them through the process of getting help. This is a great hands-on position
for people who want to be directly involved in helping a hurting person.
9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.
- Addicted to Hope
Lead/counsel a group recovering from addictions
through precept principles. Groups meet from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, Friday; 6:30
pm-8:00 pm, Tuesday
- Meals Ministry Team (am)
This team organizes Memorial receptions
following funerals. 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Thursday
- Meals Ministry Team (pm)
Our pm team responds to families and individuals
at the time of crisis. Offering food and encouragement through meals. They
may coordinate meals for a few days after someone is released from the hospital.
Times vary.
- Meals – Special Delivery
This team offers meals to new mothers. Times
vary.
- Edge of Commitment
Help lead a 10-week course for couples who are
preparing for who are seriously dating or preparing for marriage. Begins
January, April, and September.
- Homeless Ministry Team
If God has given you a special compassion
for those who are homeless, then this team is for you. Each Saturday, the
homeless ministry team meets in the courtyard to prepare lunches, which
are served to dozens of homeless people. This is a wonderful opportunity
to share God's love with people in need. One-time serving opportunities
offered on the fourth weekend of every month; ongoing serving opportunities
are on Saturdays at 7:30 am or Sunday mornings from 6:30 am to 10:00 am
in room 176.
- Visitation Ministry: Hospitals
Visitors bring words of hope, care,
and love to those who are confined to the hospital for a short or long period
of time. Visitors go to hospitals and offer prayer and words of encouragement.
As scheduled, volunteers serve on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday
- Visitation Ministry: Nursing Homes/Shut-ins
Visitors bring a word
of hope, care, and love to those who are confined for a short or long period
of time. Visitors will go to nursing homes or to those confined to their
own home and offer prayer and words of encouragement. Volunteers serve as
scheduled.
- Partners in Prayer
You can sign up to pray for the people and the
ministries of Central for one hour each month. Our goal is to have round-the-clock
prayer for Central every hour of every day. This is a ministry that can
be done in your own home and prayer guides are given to help direct your
prayer time. Volunteers serve as scheduled for one hour sessions.
- Prayer Chain
Those who have a gift of prayer will receive an email
after 2:00 pm Monday-Friday. Daily prayer
- Monday Morning Prayer Team
Meet every Monday to pray for the ministry
of this church and for the staff. 8:00 to 9:30 am, Mondays.
- Saturday Evening Prayer Team/Meeting
Meet every Saturday to pray
for the ministry of this church and specific prayer needs. 5:00 to 6:15
pm, Saturdays.
- Food Pantry Volunteer
Help sort, clean, and organize our food pantry
and make boxes for families in need. Help with our periodic food drives.
Occasionally go on a "spending spree" to restock the food pantry.
Times vary, as needed.
- Leader for HOPE Cancer Support Group
We need a cancer survivor with
a passion to reach out to others with cancer and create a support system
of encouragement and hope and a place to talk through the losses involved
with having cancer. 6:30 to 8:00 pm, Second/Fourth Tuesdays of the month.
- Hospice Visitation
Visitors bring words of hope, care, love and encouragement
to those who are patients of a hospice through Odyssey Healthcare. A hospice
program provides palliative care for the seriously or terminally ill patients,
and support services to patients and their families through 24-hour a day
care in both home and inpatient settings. Visitors adopt a patient or family
to provide social, spiritual and emotional care during the last stages of
illness, during the dying process, and/or bereavement. Visitors will go
to the facility or to a home and offer prayer and words of encouragement.
Times vary, as scheduled.
- Shut-in Visitation
Visitors bring words of hope, care, love and encouragement
to those who are confined for a short or long period of time. Some people
are released from the hospital and are not well enough to attend church
and request home visits. Also, elderly who are no longer capable of leaving
their home to attend church long for Christian community. Visitors go to
homes of people in these situations and offer prayer and words of encouragement.
In some cases, visitors may be asked to do some grocery shopping for their
new friends. Times vary, as scheduled.
